For this trip, our plan was to spend a few days in the Grapevine area of Texas and thus, we chose to spend a night at the Great Wolf Lodge and Water Park.
The thinking was to do that and then move over to the Gaylord Texan, which is just across the road from the Great Wolf Lodge.
It turned out to be a very splendid, enjoyable, and fun filled experience. Check in was a breeze, and it really did not take much time for us to settle in and get on with the fun.

The Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center is just down the road or up the road from the Great Wolf Lodge, depending on where you are coming from. It is a very expansive and large complex.
During our first day in Grapevine, we stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge but because we also wanted to experience the Gaylord Texan, we checked into it the next day. As soon as we made the turn into the Gaylord Texan Road, off the main road, we could see a water park with lots of brown colored slides by the right.
Ah, it turns out that that is the water park that you gain access to as a complimentary perk for lodging in Gaylord Texan. A little drive down the road, we approached the sprawling facility.

It was so busy; the parking lot was filled with cars, and we wondered what else could be going on, besides people there to lodge.
Alas, it is also a convention center, and they had a few days convention going on that weekend.

Is the Grapevine Lake Swimmable? This is a very common question from visitors to the Grapevine Lake. The short answer is yes. In fact, there are areas or portions of the lake that are explicitly reserved for swimming.
