Sacramento is the capital city of the state of California, and it is also fondly known as the Farm-to-Fort city. It has great outdoor weather, almost year-round and with that also comes the availability of many outdoor kids friendly kind of activities.

Visit The Sacramento Zoo

Mostly, a curation of children’s bucket list will not be complete without a visit to the zoo.

Thus, as one of the must do things with kids while in Sacramento, a visit to the zoo is one of them.

The nonprofit and educational zoo was established in 1927 and is very popular with locals and visitors, alike.

It records about 500,000 visitors annually and sits on 14 acres, but discussions are ongoing about moving the zoo to Elk Grove, with a bigger land mass. It has as many as 140 different species of animals.

The zoo offers some interesting attractions and tours, while visiting, you and your family can get on the zoo train and ride through the Big Cat Row or your kids can enjoy a ride on the conservation carousel, which have been carved to resemble different animals.

The carousel animals include ladybug, jaguar, peacock, eagle and many more.

Also, there is the tall wonders of Africa viewing deck where the kids will have the opportunity to get close to the giraffes.

The zoo has several animal exhibit areas – tall wonders of Africa, small wonders of Africa, the reptile house, big cat row, lemurs, aviaries and so much more.

Check Out The Aerospace Museum

The Aerospace Museum in Sacramento is another kids friendly place to add to your children’s bucket list while on a trip to the Farm-to-Fork city.

It is situated on the grounds of former McClellan Air Force Base.

There is much to see, feel and cover during a visit here. They have an array of exhibits and trainings conducted by very knowledgeable docents.

They will draw from their wide range of experience in the private, commercial and military aviation sector.

A fun fact is that this museum used to be the home of fighter jets repair and modification, it has about 35 jets outside and you can go near and explore.

Some of the popular aircrafts in this facility are the F-102 Delta Dagger, A-10 Thunderbolt II, F-100D Super Sabre, F-4C Phantom II and many others.

Another fun thing to do in Sacramento while visiting with kids is to pay a visit to the Fairytale town.

The aim of this place is to allow kids to explore their creativity and imagination, with the playsets available, which are themed on fairytale.

They have over 25 playsets which are modeled after characters and stories that your kids are mostly familiar with.

Do not fret if they are not familiar with a particular playset. This is because scattered around the grounds near the playsets are red Magic Story Boxes, which contain stories and songs about that playset.

The kids will love to visit the California Automobile Museum.

Here they will see a lot of cars that they can identify and some that they never knew existed.

The retinue of cars are very impressive, it promises to meet their car enthusiasm, no matter which automobile era they are most interested in.

They routinely conduct exhibits that are designed and themed to intrigue the visitors and create lasting memories.  Your family are welcome to join the frequent tours that go on or saunter off on their own and explore.

Answer: They are usually open between 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Wednesdays through Monday

Answer:  Yes, you can enjoy a free ride every third Sunday, provided you have a paid museum pass. You will also have the chance to choose which car the ride will be in; there are a lot of options. Note – the older generation vehicles are not compatible with baby car seats.
