When I visited Fredericksburg TX with my significant other, the 1st thing that we did was stroll through Mainstreet. Honestly, it is almost intuitively the initial thing to do.
Mainstreet is a thriving commercial district in the heart of Fredericksburg. It is very pedestrian friendly, it has very neatly paved concrete sidewalks on both sides of the street.
Each storefront, of which there are many, opens onto the concrete sidewalks. We literally strolled from one shop to another, while holding hands and chatting away.
The shops offered a wide array of services. We bought wine from the “Grape Creek” storefront which happens to be the oldest wine outlet in Fredericksburg.
They have a vineyard, but I will touch on that later. There are antique shops, restaurants, gift shops and many more on Main Street.
2. Tour The Vineyards and Do Some Wine Tasting
Perhaps, wines are the most popular items that Fredericksburg Texas is associated with. So, if you are thinking about what to do in Fredericksburg Texas romantically, then touring a vineyard and wine tasting should be top of your list.
For us, the wine tasting actually started out during our stroll on Mainstreet. There are literally dozens of storefronts that sell locally made wines and offer wine tasting too.
Some of them will only allow you to buy their wines because their wine tastings are only with memberships. If you are a tourist, getting a membership will probably not be the best bang for your buck.
Don’t worry, like I said above there are a lot of outlets that will allow you to taste different wines for a certain sum of money.
One of such places is the “Fredericksburg Winery”, we tasted five different wines for $15. They would allow you to tour their shop during the wine bottling process too.

Another must do activity for tourists who come to Fredericksburg TX is to visit the National Museum of The Pacific War.
A part of this museum can be accessed from Mainstreet, we parked on Mainstreet and went to the museum through the entrance between the Admiral Nimitz gallery and the command post museum.
If you choose, you can go through the front of the museum on Austin Street. For us, we had initially started our tour with a stroll of Mainstreet, that is why we used the entrance on Mainstreet to go to the museum.
Going through this route, you will go past the Veterans memorial courtyard 1st. On this courtyard, we paid tribute to our heroes past and spent some time solemnly reading through plaques and bricks that adorned the courtyard.
The Pacific War Museum is a place that is filled with history and perspective that is better seen and felt than read about. Each exhibit inside or outside the museum holds a unique story that is best experienced while with a companion.

4. Stroll, Sit and Admire The Roses In The Fredericksburg von Marketplatz
Thinking about free romantic things to do in Fredericksburg Tx for couples? We did too, we found a few things to do that were romantic and free.
Here is one of them, we visited the Fredericksburg von Marketplatz Park and strolled from end to end. We stopped by the garden to admire the flowers, including the roses.
We were intrigued by the still functional but historic wooden water wheel located right behind the Vereins Kirche Museum, within the Marketplatz.
There are several pavilions and ample seats both inside the pavilions and outside by the sidewalks and garden. In our opinion, this experience was very relaxing and gave us some time to unwind and plan our next stop.

5. Tour The Wineries and Vineyards
Fredericksburg is synonymous with romance and love. That is why it is a popular destination to organize and hold bachelorette parties and trips for couples.
Mainstreet isn’t the only area of Fredericksburg where you can go wine tasting. In fact, most of the wineries and vineyards are located along highway 290. There are basically two modes of transportation when it comes to touring the wineries and vineyards.
In our case, since we visited Fredericksburg TX in a rented vehicle, we drove to the vineyards by ourselves. We visited the Grape Creek Vineyard (remember we went into their storefront on Mainstreet too), Wildseed Farms and a few others.
These vineyards are located on HWY 290. Another way to experience the vineyards and wineries is to engage the services of tour companies.

Music and wine have complemented each other since time immemorial. Since Fredericksburg Tx is already very well known for fantastic wine, we decided to check out the live music and night club scene.
I am glad to say we were not disappointed. There are nice live music venues and nightclubs. We hopped around a bit but settled at “Silver Creek”.
As expected, Mainstreet, which happens to be the major artery of Fredericksburg TX has most of the live music venues and nightclubs but a few of them are a short drive away too.
